2014 Ford F-150 Tremor Revealed
The sport truck is back! Ford will be offering a special trim of its F-150, the 2014 F-150 Tremor, it will be a regular cab, 126″ wheel base 4×2 sport truck (it will be available with 4 wheel drive). This is to keep weight as low as possible to squeeze out the most performance possible. This truck should weigh in at just about 5,000 pounds. The Tremor will be exclusively powered by, what other than, the 3.5 liter V6 EcoBoost, putting out 365 horsepower and 420 foot pounds of torque to the rear wheels. As you can see in the pictures below, that will be more than enough for the burnout enthusiasts out there! You should note that, normally, the 3.5 liter EcoBoost is not available for the regular cab F-150.
Appearance wise the Sport truck gets FX2 appearance package treatment, 20 inch black wheels, black badging with red lettering and a special red and black interior (all of which you can see in the pictures throughout the article and below).
The EcoBoost power will be mated to a 6 speed automatic and 4:10 rear axle. Now with this kind of power, packaging and cab configuration, one can’t help but be reminded of the legendary F-150 SVT Lightning. The Lightning was a fast and powerful truck, with no small thanks to the 5.4 liter modular being outfitted with superchargers. In its final years from 2001 to 2004 these trucks produced 380 horsepower and 450 foot pounds of torque. So it will be quite interesting to see how the Tremor compares, even if its slightly lower on power.
The Tremor will not be outfitted with a special suspension package, so that’s something the aftermarket will likely address for the die-hard sport-truck enthusiast. Speaking of the aftermarket, we did an article sometime ago about tuning your F-150 EcoBoost equipped truck. Just think what a tune like that could do for the Tremor! If in stock form it cannot beat a lightning, surely with this tune it will!
No pricing is available yet, but should become available later this summer when Ford releases pricing for its entire 2014 F-150 line-up. Sources say the Tremor could be priced anywhere form $23,000 to $27,000. Which isn’t out of the question as the 2013 F-150 XLT 4×2 w/ EcoBoost and long bed (only way you can get EcoBoost on a regular cab for the 2013 model year, the Tremor will be the first short-bed EcoBoost available) currently invoices at $26,900.
